Word Trace

Overview

Word Trace is published by Elizabeth Ashley as an ad-supported app for iPhone and iPad; the Apple Watch edition is a separate one-time purchase and shows no ads. This page informs users about the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when using the app.

By using Word Trace, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. Your information is not used or shared with anyone except as described here.

Data Collection

Word Trace does not require an account or sign-up, and Elizabeth Ashley does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to her own servers.

The app does use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you:

Advertising

The free version of Word Trace shows interstitial ads from Google AdMob between levels. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect device information such as the advertising identifier (IDFA), IP address, and ad-interaction data. Ad attribution on iOS uses Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork.

Word Trace only uses the advertising identifier for personalized ads after you allow tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, you still see ads, but they are non-personalized (contextual).

You can remove all advertising with the one-time No Ads purchase.

Your Ad Choices & Consent

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Google's consent message appears before any ads are shown, and ads respect the choices you make there.

Log Data

Whenever you use the app, in the case of an error we may collect data and information (through third-party products) on your device called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app, the time and date of your use, and other statistics.

Cookies

Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. This app does not use cookies explicitly. However, it may use third-party code and libraries that use cookies to collect information and improve their services. You have the option to accept or refuse these cookies; refusing may limit some ad-related functionality.

Service Providers

We may employ third-party companies for the following reasons:

These third parties have access to some of your information only to perform the tasks assigned to them, and they are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Security

We value your trust and strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting your information. Remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Links to Other Sites

The app and this site may contain links to other sites. If you click a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. External sites are not operated by us; we advise you to review their privacy policies, and we assume no responsibility for their content or practices.

In-App Purchases

Word Trace offers one-time, non-consumable in-app purchases — for example, No Ads on iPhone and iPad. These are single payments, not subscriptions, and they do not auto-renew.

Data Storage & iCloud

Game progress and statistics are stored locally on your device. Game progress syncs across your devices via Apple iCloud (key-value storage and CloudKit). This data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. Elizabeth Ashley does not have access to your iCloud data.

If you delete the app, locally stored data is removed. iCloud-synced data can be managed through your iCloud settings.

Game Center

Word Trace uses Apple's Game Center for leaderboards and achievements. Game Center data is managed by Apple and subject to their privacy policies. We do not store Game Center data on our servers.

Children's Privacy

This app does not address anyone under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided personal information, please contact us through the support page so that we can take the necessary actions.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. This policy is effective as of July 13, 2026.
